A Brazilian born filmmaker, Flavia Moraes is a professional, internationally recognized for her work both as a theatrical director and a critical humorist. For her, "Light, art, camera movement, everything in my films revolves around the characters." Working with actors is Flavia's forté.
Member of DGA (Directors Guild of America), Flavia attended a course at the Art School of University of Rio Grande do Sul, and joined film directing classes at the London International Filma School. She has participated on workshops promoted by the Italian Institute of Culture with Franco Zefirelli, by NYU with Martin Scorcese, and training at AVID/NY in off-line editing as well as ARRI/Munich in camera operation. She has also studied with Mark Travis, recognized "director's trainer" in Hollywood.
Flavia's desire to choose her own projects led to the creation of Film Planet in 1990. which became one of the most important production companies in Brazil. Today there are satellite companies in Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Santiago and Rio de Janeiro. Along with a group of directors from all four countries, she has worked for clients ranging from Coca-Cola to Pepsi, Ford to Audi, American Express to Visa, AT&T to MCI, Budweiser to Smirnoff, and many more. Up to now, Flavia has just directed a major motion picture called Acquaria and more than 2000 commercials, short films, music videos, a theater play and concerts for some of the best pop singers in Brazil. She also created DVDs from some of these concerts.
Flavia Moraes's work has been awarded in many Film and Advertising Festivals, such as Cannes, Clio, Rio Fest, Berlin and New York, among others.
