After returning to his home village in 1809, a Tyrolean student (Luis Trenker) leads a peasant revolt against the occupying French forces. Hitler was said to have seen this film four times, and Goebbels singled it out for special praise in 1933 as one model for future German film.
This is the german version without subs. One year later (1932) Trenker and Knopf remade an english version of the movie.
